Is there a conversion between the MSAFE 13-month smooth F10.7 values and the daily and 81 day average F10.7 flux

I was wondering how the 13-month smooth F10.7 solar flux obtained from the MSAFE files is converted to the daily and 81-day average solar flux to use with NRLMSISE-00

Have you looked into MarshallSolarActivityFutureEstimation class already?
If not, I invite you to do it, all your answers are in there :wink:

In a nutshell:

  • Mean flux@t: weighted mean (weight based on elapsed time from a point) between two points around t in MSAFE F10.7 solar flux.
  • Daily average@t = Mean flux @ t - 1day
  • 81-day average@t = arithmetic mean of Mean flux on the interval [t - 40days, t + 41days]
